Bring a rail journey into your route
A hill-country train ride can be a memorable part of a Sri Lanka holiday. The most enjoyable plan considers where the train section begins and ends, how you reach the station and where you are staying afterwards.
Rather than trying to fit the longest possible journey into a single day, consider a section that balances scenery with comfort and your other plans.

Reservations need flexibility
Train services, reserved seats and carriage availability must be checked for your dates. A request is not a confirmed ticket, and a preferred class or departure cannot be guaranteed before reservation.
We can discuss station transfers and luggage arrangements alongside the rail segment. If the preferred service is unavailable, a different section or a road journey may provide a practical alternative.
Enjoy the view safely
Stay inside the carriage and away from open doorways. Scenic photographs are never worth leaning out or standing on railway tracks. Follow station staff instructions and keep your belongings with you.
Tell us about children, large bags or mobility needs so we can consider the practicalities. Some stations and services may not suit every access requirement.
